About the Society

 

The Friends Society for People with Special Needs is an independent Palestinian civil association, founded in the year (1999). The association is licensed by the Ministry of Interior under the Palestinian Associations and NGOs Law No. (6025). Its headquarters are in Rafah - Gaza Strip. It provides its services to marginalized groups, especially People with disabilities and their poor families The association aims to develop and empower a sustainable society based on the effective community participation of the target groups, the Friends Association for People with Special Needs, through achieving its vision and mission, is committed to the principles and values ​​of humanitarian response, which include responsibility, commitment, transparency, tolerance, justice, equality, non-discrimination, participation and empowerment for the disabled

Goals

  • Contributing to advocating for people with disabilities, and enhancing their participation in society (pressure and advocacy axis).

 

  • Contributing to developing the institutional capabilities of the Society of Friends for People with Special Needs (capacity building axis) Improving the living conditions of persons with disabilities and ensuring their ability to reach their physical, mental and psychological potentials to the maximum level of benefit from the available services and opportunities. (Rehabilitation and Empowerment Axis)

 

  • Providing an integrated health service for people with disabilities to ensure their safe and effective reintegration into society, in cooperation with the relevant sectors. (Health pillar) Facilitating and facilitating access to an integrated educational service for people with disabilities, according to the capabilities available to them, in a way that contributes to effective societal participation for them. (Education axis)
